The International Bank Note Society (IBNS) was founded in 1961 by a group of paper-money enthusiasts who sought to unite collectors from all over the world. Since its establishment, the organization has operated as a nonprofit educational community dedicated to encouraging the study and appreciation of world banknotes and paper currencies. Its core mission is to promote, stimulate, and advance knowledge about paper money, as well as to support research into the historical, cultural, artistic, technological, and scientific aspects of numismatics and notaphily.
Today, the IBNS has about 1,800 active members across over 90 countries, forming a truly global network of collectors, researchers, dealers, and admirers of paper currency.
Members of the Society enjoy a wide range of benefits. They receive a quarterly printed journal containing news about newly issued banknotes, in-depth research articles, analytical reviews, and historical studies. A membership web-directory is also available, helping members connect with one another and find trustworthy dealers to expand their collections. In addition, the IBNS offers professional assistance in resolving disputes between collectors, promotes ethical standards within the community, and provides many other valuable tools for enriching the hobby.
The purpose of the IBNS website is to offer a broad range of online services to its members and to anyone interested in collecting paper money. Visitors are invited to participate in the development of the site by submitting comments, suggestions, ideas, expectations, and feedback that may help improve the platform.
We welcome cooperation, appreciate every new member, and warmly invite all who are fascinated by the world of banknotes!
